Mesquite Honey

Oh, the honey-bees are gumming
On their little wings, and humming
That the summer, which is coming
Will be fun.
-- The House at Pooh Corner (A. A. Milne)

Velvet Mesquite (Prosopsis Velutina) flowers are pollinated by insects, predominantly bees. The Velvet Mesquite flowers are set in cylindrical spikes, 5 - 10 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters wide. The fragrant pale yellow flowers on the inflorescence are small and densely crowded. Bees produce a fragrant honey from mesquites.

They do look like velvet! How well they are named and I love the A.A. Milne quote
