Jupiter at dawn
Currently the most prominent feature in the dawn sky is the planet Jupiter. It's a beautiful sight, especially at moonrise. Several people, such as Ontario Wanderer, have posted their photos of Jupiter on their blogs in the last few days. Since I started digital photography, I haven't attempted any night or early light shots, so I thought I'd give it a try. Not knowing what kind of settings to use, I went first to Aperture-priority, which is my regular setting: way too much light-gathering there. So I tried Shutter-priority for the first time and got a shot I'm happy with.

Wow, Jupiter must have been bright because I can still easily see it in your smaller blog photo.
I am a night owl and a late riser, and if I don't have an early morning class, the sun awakens well before I do. Dawn is a wonderful, magical time for sky photography though, as your lovely photograph shows.
You made an excellent start to photography in the dark! I think I did mine with just the manual setting and the camera on a tripod. I still have not done much with the automatic features of the camera. Nice to see that others are enjoying the early morning!
