Amazing photo! This reminds me of a Uccello painting---the clear colors, limpid light, crisp edges and lots of stacatto, leaning verticals (the cactus prickles here, lances and spears in Uccello.)
laura - I looked up Uccello. He's new to me. Saw two panels of The Battle of San Romano. I see what you mean.
endment - I was wondering what happened. I was missing your posts. This was a difficult photo - backlit, sun in my eyes, trying to avoid catclaw, mesquite and paloverde (that's the out of focus stuff in front) and still get close enough.
Thanks, jimmy and cynthia! I was very fortunate to be able to get as close as I did - which is still pretty far away. I think the parent Thrashers are getting used to this two-footed creature walking around with a big black thing protruding from its face :)
rd and chiefbiscuit - It was such a treat, as you said. I checked on the nest yesterday and saw the little ones. Today, they're deep back inside cheeping when food arrives.
I retired from the University of Arizona, where I coordinated distance learning. New enthusiasms include learning about digital photography and photoprocessing, archaeology, theatre, and observing the natural world around me.
