Just for fun

Last summer, we attended a conference at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. Our hotel room windows wouldn't open, but I was still able to take some photos of some of the shipping activity in the harbour. From our hotel room, I noticed that the balconies of the building across from me reflected the surround in an interesting way.

Balcony #2 reflects the Coronado Bridge. #3 reflects the harbour. #4 and #5 reflect the marina. The lower balconies reflect the hotel buildings and the courtyard gardens and the swimming pool.

A short walk from the hotel is a tourist area: Seaport Village. It has a great little bookstore and some interesting shops, including a kite shop. The kite shop puts up a display of kites on the peninsula across from the village.

Coronado Island and the Coronado Bridge are in the background.

Interesting reflections.
I used to spend a lot of time on Coronado Island. Still miss it.

Lucky you! We took the marina sea bus over and enjoyed the little time we spent there. Would have liked to explore some of the more remote areas.

Marriot is lovely complex. I enjoyed staying there this past Jan.
Sadly it was for work so didn't have opportunity to visit much of the surronding area.

At least was able to sneak off and see seals on La Jolla beach.

Fascinating picture! Very observant of you to note the reflections and snap the shot.

When we lived in the Scottsdale area we use to travel to San Diego regularly every chance we had. Loved the area, still do. Was always enamoured with Torrey Pines.

With small children, we found a membership in the newly opened San Diego Wild Animal Park with admission to the San Diego Zoo a bargain. Of course, we already belonged to the Phoenix Zoo, coupled with our trips to Tucson and the sights there, everything along the way was a delight, as was the whole state of Arizona.

jllove - We go to an annual conference in San Diego - most recently held at the Convention Center. Luckily, since my prof. husband has retired, we get to do more play than work. We love the museums, the tide pools, the beaches and Balboa Park.

joared - Thanks for visiting my site. When our children were small (back in the 70's) we took our VW camper to Carlsbad or Cardiff and camped on cliff above the beach. I agree that San Diego and Escondido were great places for entertaining small children on vacation. Since then my husband and I have enjoyed a stay at Crystal Pier - a fun place to stay: we saw a magnificent green flash over the ocean and walked and walked along the beach. I'm glad you liked Arizona. It's a fascinating state, with far more variety and beauty than most people realize.
