This photo reminds me of a table top we saw made from cactus wood much like this at the famed Desert Museum near Tucson, name escapes me since it has been so many years.
The different shades of the wood were striking. I was so inspired I intended to start collecting dead cacti wood and make something myself, but never got the project off the ground before we moved away.
Pam, I don't have a blog. Guess I'm what is called a "lurker," only I lurk out into the light fairly frequently on various blogs whose bloggers have so graciously allowed me to write my piece.

joared - I'd be happy to have you comment whenever you like. It's such a pleasure to get to know new people through my blog. I also welcome criticism as I go through my learning process with photography - please feel free to give your honest opinion of anything I post. I've never seen saguaro used in a table, although it would be quite possible to inlay it with other woods. The museum is the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. It's considered one of the top 10 zoos in the world and is a world-class museum. Tucsonans are very proud of it.
Yes, it was the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, I'm pretty sure. The large table top was inlaid. Wish I'd taken a picture. The strips of cacti wood had various gradations of natural color. Would have thought that table would have been such a treasure it would have been there forever.
