Today I celebrate ...

I have lived 70 years. Today, as I embark on the 71st,
with heartfelt thanks I celebrate my life, my friends and family,
the splendour of the universe
and the wonder of all plants and creatures on our planet.

dear pam,

a very happy day to you in celebrating a rich and incredible 70 years. it is hard to imagine that i have known you for over 42 of these.

in that time you have taught me so much: to appreciate the beauty of our world, to celebrate the tapestry of cultures and communities that contribute to this world, to see art in all things, to respect the humanity of all people even (especially) when I disagree with them, to make a difference in this world through my actions and based on my values and beliefs, and to embrace the challenges as well as the triumphs that life inevitably brings.

i am blessed to be on your journey with you. and i am proud to call you friend as well as mentor. i really wish i could be in tucson to celebrate with you. greta and i will share a piece of cake tonight in your honor. (no candles though, she's not very good at blowing them out.)

i love you mom!

Dear Pam, I have only recently become acquainted, through your blog, with your calm and warm spirit. I wish you so much joy today and in the years ahead. And, please, keep showing the rest of us the world according to Pam, as reflected in your beautiful photographs.

Happy Birthday, how exciting to be starting a whole new decade. Beautiful photo too. I will miss seeing the cactus bloom this year but will enjoy getting to see them vicariously through your lens

Hello Pam: A very happy birthday to you . . . your photographs are truly incredible frozen moments . . . clearly no moment in your life has been so "frozen" and yet you have been able to stop-time so gloriously.

All best wishes of the day!
