BC Road Trip - Mt. Robson Provincial Park - II

June 12, morning – Mt. Robson Provincial Park.

Y.T. decided to go on a whitewater rafting trip on the Fraser River.

S. and I declined the whitewater, but decided to go on a 2.5 hour float trip. We walked down to the river from our cabins and were delighted to find that we were the only ones signed up. We were taken by bus upstream to our starting point,

where our guide and paddler, Drew, put the raft in the water.

Drew was extremely knowledgeable, attentive and absolutely delightful. He drew our attention to every magnificent view of Mt. Robson

paddled into an inlet to look at a beaver dam

showed us the many giant trees that fell into the river each year

and pointed out the confluence of the darker Fraser River with the glacier-fed blue-green Robson River.

At one point he held the raft still for several minutes and we sat quietly listening to the still of the woods, the gentle sound of the water and the calling of the birds.

Our trip terminated at our starting point - the end of the road down from our cabins.

We walked quietly up the hill, enjoying the wild flowers, butterflies and thoughts of this memorable trip.
We waved to the exuberant whitewater rafters as they returned from their exciting adventure.

Beautiful day. I enjoyed that journey immensely. I particularly loved the moment when the raft was still and you listened to the quiet of the woods, the gentle water, and the bird songs. Thanks for taking us along.
