Red Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima)

Red Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) attracts butterflies and bees. Yesterday morning, little greenish-yellow butterflies were feeding on the blooms of the shrubs in our front yard. I know very little about butterflies, but I believe they're Cloudless Sulphurs (Phoebis sennae).A couple of Carpenter Bees came by as I was trying to photograph the butterflies.

It's good to get down and study life from the viewpoint of an insect - or at least, of an insect-viewing person!

Thank you, Cynthia. The red bird of paradise just begs to be photographed.

dragonflyfilly - Thanks for visiting. I'm glad you like the photos. Re the meme: I don't know the blogs you're talking about and couldn't find the links. However, I try as much as possible to keep this blog tuned away from my inner person and more toward my outside world, so, although I appreciate your tagging me, I won't be responding to your 5 Weird Things About Me meme publicly (although it was kind of fun to see what I might have written).

chiefbiscuit - I'm drawn by what I can photograph. If I get good photos, I try to find out what I've taken. Thus I'm learning about my world through the lens. It's pretty cool!
