I love the second photo! It looks like he is ready to take a dive. Just found your blog and I am really enjoying it! I'm a fellow desert dweller.

We had a Cooper's Hawk today cruisin' past the bird feeder and over the yard a few times. Seems to be a young one as our regular Cooper's Hawk is larger, and has more distinct markings. I have so much trouble with immature raptors!

I always love to see the hawks even knowing they are after my also favorite little birds. On driving home from town they seem to space themselves about a mile apart and never are there when I bring a camera so I much enjoyed your photos

Oooh, nice! I had a sharp-shinned that came around every year (I'm in Oregon). It came for the birds that liked my feeder. I've read that hawks patrol backyard feeders like traplines.
