The Great southern Utah Road Trip - August 24 - Part IV - Utah Scenic Byway 12

We reluctantly left beautiful Bryce Canyon and headed east for Boulder on Scenic Byway 12, Utah's "All-American Road."

According to A Route Guide to Scenic Byway 12
Scenic Byway 12 spans a route of 124 miles, and travels through some of the most diverse, remote and ruggedly beautiful landscapes in the country. It runs through Utah’s Garfield and Wayne Counties and is home to two national parks, three state parks, a national recreation area, a national monument, and a national forest.Along the way you will discover that Scenic Byway12 takes you through memorable landscapes, ranging from the remains of ancient sea beds to one of the world’s highest alpine forests, and from astonishing pink and russet stone turrets to open sagebrush flats.

Although we were aware of our deadline, we did stop in a few places to take photos. I also took photos through the car windows as Holly drove.  We knew we could stop at the overlooks on the way back.
