Congrats on the 'I and the Bird' post - I will have to come back and have a proper read - it looks very tempting and wonderful. I love the majestic hawk - they are birds with such presence - even from the back!

You've always, always got great bird shots, Pam.

cb - thank you! It was a lot of fun to put together, thanks to the great posts that were submitted. The hawk was presenting a beautiful front view as I stared at it. Then I ran for my camera and it immediately turned its back on me.

y,t - Welcome and thanks! Went over to Yankee, Transferred. You have a beautiful family.

lené - I love the power in this bird. And I love the magic of digital photography. I didn't see the prey until I blew up the photo.

Somehow the fact that he is turning his back almost adds to the spirit of the photo. Great shot. And the sky is so very blue!

Mary - Yes, most of the time our skies are very blue. We're grateful for clouds and even storms in this "land of little rain." I've seen this red-tailed hawk in the mornings sitting across the road high in a eucalyptus tree for several weeks. This is the first time he's come close.

sonia - thank you!

You got some lovely color and detail there. Wonderful picture! We've had one around since the 1st of August, but I haven't seen it lately. Moved on perhaps. I had fun photographing it, but can't get good close-ups of birds with my little camera.
Lucky you to have it come so close. Must've been an exciting moment :)
