Dragonflies?

Here are a couple of photos I took at the third pond in Agua Caliente Park. I know very little about insects, and I haven't been able to identify these dragonflies. I'd be very pleased to learn what they are.

The first one seems similar to a Neon Skimmer, but isn't as bright as those I've seen pictured on the Internet. 

And this one resembles photos of a Variegated Meadowhawk.
