Nesting hummingbird

Hummingbird Nesting in Olive Tree
University of Arizona campus
11 May 2006

There are times when photos are fuzzy and overexposed, but you can't resist keeping them anyway. These photos were taken into the sun with a pocket Nikon Coolpix 5200 and processed with PaintShop Pro. When I went back to take more, the nest was empty.

Thanks to Karen and Laura for showing me the nest!

We have hummers all around but I cannot find their nests. What a delightful opportunity!

great photos. I have two hummingbird nests that were knocked out of our oak trees in a storm but were in totally perfect condition. I treasure them. This year, when the old barn finally went down, a barn swallow nest came down too-- again in perfect condition. Theirs are more mud where the hummers have beautiful, delicate nests. Wisely enough, the birds hadn't used that nest this year, probably the instability of the barn at the last didn't make it very appealing.
